Fishing "Hot Spots" for a variety of species:
- Lake Minatare (2300 acres) - 8 N of Minatare - Channel Catfish, crappie, smallmouth bass, white bass, walleye, wipers, yellow perch (Open January 15 - September 30) all watercraft allowed, camping. (Nebraska Game and Parks permit required)
- Lake Winters Creek (235 acres) - 9 N of Minatare - Bluegill, channel catfish, largemouth bass, walleye, yellow perch (Open January 15 - September 30) electric motors only
- Terry's Pit (7 acres) - Terrytown - Largemouth bass, trout (no boats) - Open to public
- Cochran Lake (45 acres) - 2 SW of Melbeta - Carp, Channel Catfish - Open to public
- J.C. Pond/ Zoo Pond (5 acres) - Riverside Zoo in Scottsbluff - Rainbow trout (no boats) - Open to public
- Morrill Sand Pits (25 acres - 3 lakes) 3 S of Morrill - Black crappie, largemouth bass, rainbow trout, yellow perch (no boats) - Open to public (free entry permit at City Office)
- Buffalo Creek WMA (7 acre pond) - 5 S, 1 ½ W of Melbeta - Largemouth Bass, Rainbow trout (1 mile hike) - Open to public
- Spotted Tail Creek Trout Hatchery - Mitchell - Family fishing (Private - no licence required)
Trout fishing is excellent, Brown and Rainbow Trout abound in area streams Ask local landowners for permission on private ground - most just want to know who you are.
- Nine Mile Creek WMA - 3 E, 5.5 N of Minatare
- Nine Mile Creek - (Private access, permission required) 2 E of Minatare
- Spotted Tail Creek (Private access, permission required) NW of Mitchell
- Dry Spotted Tail Creek (Private access, permission required) NW of Mitchell
- Stuckenhole Creek (Private access, permission required) W of Bayard
- Winters Creek (Private access, permission required) NE of Scottsbluff
- Red Willow Creek (Private access, permission required) E of Bayard
- Sheep Creek (Private access, permission required) NW of Morrill
- Dry Sheep Creek (Private access, permission required) NW of Morrill
- Tub Springs (Private access, permission required) NE of Mitchell
- Wildhorse Creek (Private access, permission required) N of Bayard
