Lair of the Vampire is a limited-time uzzle Room (like an Escape Room without the locked door!) starting at 4 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 4 and at 10 a.m. on Oct. 5, then again on Oct. 11 and 12. There are one-hour timeslots during that time, with the last group going at 8 p.m. each night. Tickets will be $10 per person and it is recommended for tweens, teens, and adults (10 and up). Teams of up to six people can take up to 1 hour to solve the puzzles and find the vampire. The puzzle room will be located at the Wilde Thing studio, 15 W. 16th Street in Scottsbluff, but reservations can be made by calling the library at 308-630-6250 or stopping by the circulation desk. Tickets may be paid for at the time the reservation is made or at the door (cash or check only). All proceeds will go to the Library Foundation to support teen programming.

Whoooo would like to learn more about owls? Nocturnal by nature, owls are a mysterious group of birds that are brilliantly adapted to the dark nights of late fall and winter. At this month’s Family Nature Club, we will learn about our Nebraska owls and, through a variety of hands-on activities and biofacts, investigate their keen sensory abilities and their secrets of stealth and silence.

Family Nature Club is intended for children and their grownups. Each family group will receive an Exploration Kit to use during the series to investigate the nature around them and to complete challenges at home between sessions.
